Dwight Marable

Dwight had a personal encounter with Christ and devoted his life to Him in 1963. After finishing high school he spent the next two summers in training under Donald McGavran and doing missionary work in Asia. After a year of college, Dwight spent two years in Tokyo, Japan, serving as a missionary to students. He returned to the USA, married, finished college and a master`s degree and worked on a church staff for 9 years before serving as a church planter for 5 years.

Dwight began training pastors in West Africa in 1980 and founded Missions International in 1983 for the purpose of equipping pastors and leaders around the world. Our mission statement, "to have the greatest impact possible on where the largest number of people possible spend eternity" is carried out primarily through doing quality research on what the Holy Spirit is doing and creating training tools for pastors and leaders from the research. Since 1983 Dwight has led conferences and seminars that have equipped over 25,000 leaders in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, along with the USA and Canada. He has served in 50 nations and through short term missions MI has spawned 17 full-time ministries.

A few years ago Dwight began to focus on doing research similar to Christian Schwarz`s work with Natural Church Development. His study of 2500 small group leaders in 20 nations has resulted in the creation of Strategic Growth for Small Groups (SG) 2 . MI has piloted the work with very positive results in Latin America. We are training churches in the USA and have seen many congregations start small groups that grow through conversion growth. Church plants have had strong success, as well. Dwight is also doing research on the Church Planting Movement.
